  “A true measure of a person’s worth and beauty is a matter of the heart.”

                  All of us feel insecure from time to time (including me). Maybe it is because of our physical appearance, or because we are not at all that bright, or because we only have so little while others possess so much, or even in terms of having good relationships with our loved ones. These insecurities lead us to having low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence.

                  People tend to always see what’s amiss in them as they see others’ beautiful qualities or good points. Even I, feel like this occasionally. Just take a look at me; I’m not at all pretty. I don’t even think I’m that intelligent also. I’m just average at singing and somehow, just somehow, I can dance. In other words, I’m just an average, normal-looking person, and so are my talents and skills (if I do have them).

                  All I could think of what’s good in me is my optimism. I just feel like always lookin’ at the brighter side and I tend to just laugh at my problems and shove them off. Take for example my looks, I always tell myself that even though I’m not pretty at least I still have a complete body and my senses are all working. By one way or another, I’m still much more blessed because I was created like this; complete and not lacking any part. I’m gratified that I’ve got eyes to see, ears to hear, tongue to speak, skin to touch or feel, and the thing that I’m most thankful about is this life that I received…. The life which my Creator has bestowed upon me….

                  Now, I don’t really care about how others see me. All I care about now is how my Heavenly Father sees me. He doesn’t judge people by their outward appearances, He only looks at our hearts where our true beauty lies.

                  As a result, whenever I feel even a tinge of insecurity inside me, I look up and ask or pray to God somethin’ like this: “Lord, here it comes again; this insecurity bothering me. Please, first let me always see what’s good in me, no matter how small it may be”.
